SOME BELIEFS CHALICE HISTORY

Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ is Central
Christian Unity
Individual Freedom of Conscience in Mattes of Faith
Faith and Reason are compatible

The Chalice is a symbol of our church. We emphasize a "holy moment" in our worship each Sunday given to us by Jesus which is called "The Lord's Supper" or "Communion".  Each Sunday, we remember Jesus as the center of our lives.

F.C.C. has witnessed, served and worshipped in Stephenville for over a hundred ten years. Part of a Christian movement born on the American frontier, the "Disciples" have always stressed our unity with the whole "Christian Church".

About Pastor Paul Ganther

Paul GantherPaul Ganther became the Pastor of First Christian Church in January, 1996 after a fruitful 7 1/2 year ministry in Central Kentucky. He and his wife, Rachel are the parents of a son, Hayden and a daughter, Corinne. Paul is a native of Illinois and Rachel is a native Texan.

Soon after arriving in Stephenville, Pastor Paul led an organizing steering committee and later was a founding member of the Erath County Habitat for Humanity board of directors.  Under Pastor Paul's leadership, ECHH was recognized in 2000 by the local chapter of the NAACP  with their "Humanitarian Award" and in 2002 Pastor Paul was personally recognized by the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas with their "Community Builder" Award.  Pastor Paul is also an active member of the Stephenville Lions Club - serving on their Board of Directors, participates in the Ministerial Association, and has been chosen to participate in the 2007-2008 Leadership Stephenville Program.

Paul's other strengths include good preaching skills, a strong singing voice and a caring heart. First Christian Church has grown in numbers and depth of spirit during Pastor Paul's ministry these past 11 years. Trusting God, we continue to believe that God's best days are ahead for this church, our community and for you, too.

Habitat for Humanity International

Pastor Paul Ganther, with the support of the congregation of First Christian Church, initiated the establishment of an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in Erath County. This Christian housing ministry seeks to put Christian love into action by drawing Christians and other people of conscience together across racial, economic and denominational lines to address the problem of substandard housing in Erath County, Texas. www.habitat.org
